Where can I locally buy a digital tv band radio?

Okay here is my problem. Everyday at work I listened to my favorite tv shows on my radio which had a tv tuner on it. Well now since tvs went digital the tv went out. Where on earth can you buy the digital tv radios?

    You can’t.

It was cheap to add analog TV sound to an FM radio; it’s expensive to add digital TV sound to a radio.

There is no technical reason such a radio can’t be built, but with the price premium and limited market, I don’t expect any soon.

    Workarounds:

    1. Buy a portable TV with a digital tuner ($100 – $150). Battery life is a lot shorter than most radios.

    2. Buy connect a converter box & antenna to a radio with an audio input
(A pain but could be done)

    3. Record the previous days programs and play them back the next day (Again, a pain but could be done)

  2. Unfortunately, over-the-air TV works best after optimizing an antenna system in a fixed location. If you move the antenna (like the antenna on any portable TV or by extension, any future digital TV-band radio), it will probably need to be rescanned in order to capture the channels receivable in the new location–if any.

When manufacturers get around the re-scan requirement for digital TV detectors, digital TV-band radios *might* become feasible, but you’d still have to find a manufacturer willing to take a big marketing risk.
